The Aqaba
Movenpick Hotel opened its doors to business. The
design of the beachside hotel, which includes 250 rooms and 66
apartments, was carried out by Arabtech-Jardaneh
Consulting Engineers and Architects and Wimberly
Allison Tong and Goo. The
American firm Hirsch
Bedner Associates carried out interior design work
and the British firm Derek
Lovejoy Partnership carried out landscape work. The
British firm of Ove
Arup and
Partners, Consulting Engineers carried out
schematic structural designs, and the Saudi Arabian Ben
Laden construction company was the projects
main contractor. The
42,000 square meter complex, which cost about 25 million JD
(35.25 million $US), is one of a series of hotels in Jordan
owned by Zara
