Bilal Hammad Associates received first prize in the competition organized by the Municipality of Ramallah and Riwaq Center for Architectural Conservation (www.riwaq.org) for the development of a new commercial district for the historic section of the West Bank city.  Jafar Tukan and Partners received second prize, and Shubeilat Badran Associates (SBA) Architects and Consulting Engineers received third prize.  The 110,000 square meter project is to include multifunctional buildings occupying about 4,000 square meters, as well as open spaces that can accommodate commercial and cultural activities such as festivals and exhibitions.
