Construction work began on the development of tourist streets, trails, and lookouts in central Amman. The project includes the design of street furniture, pavements, landscaping, as well as streets and trails that will extend about 4 kilometers. Tibah Consultants and Pacific Consultants International (PCI) of Tokyo, Japan had designed the project for the Municipality of Greater Amman. It is expected to cost about 1.14 million JD (around 1.6 million $US) and is being funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and by a loan from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation. The completion of the project is set for July 2002.
